Make this simple baby quilt with 3 fabrics. It finishes 36" x 48" and is a great first project for anyone wanting to stitch a gift.

This small quilt is the perfect project to try strip-pieced quilting. The finished quilt measures 36" x 48" an dis made with 12 identical quilt blocks. The strong diagonal element gives you the creative freedom to make a variety of visual layouts with one easy construction method.

Join the following rows using a 1/4” seam allowance.
Make four total strip sets for baby size.
Press seam allowances towards the dark fabric.

Rotary cut 12 columns measuring 3-1/2” wide, from each strip set created.
The first cut, shown on the far left below, should “even up” the ends.


Each block will use four columns, one column from each strip set. Arrange them as shown below.

Matching right sides, join with a 1/4” seam allowance.

Arrange the blocks in a 3 x 4 grid. Make any design you like with the diagonal lines.
Join blocks using a 1/4” seam allowance.

Create a "quilt sandwich" with the quilt top, batting, and backing fabrics. Sew through all three layers to quilt the project and bind using your favorite binding method.
